Pictures from the Weekend

9.28.2014

It was an amazingly beautiful weekend here.  Sunny and warm and the fall colors are definitely at their peak here.  Love!

Our weekend consisted mainly of lots and lots of yard work and a little bit of fun!

It's safe to say that the leaf piles this year are the biggest ones that Zoey has ever been able to jump in yet! She was pretty excited...and therefore motivated to help us with the raking a bit!

So glad that she isn't "too old" to have fun jumping in the leaves!

 Delight in the little things...she's got that down!

Leo was whining in the house so we let him come out to play too...he actually LOVED playing (and mostly laying) in the leaves too!

We got to fill some of our leaf bags and I quickly realized we're going to either have to get more or figure out a different plan for all the leaves in our yard!

After we called it quits for the day working in the yard we took a little hike and did a bit exploring. We are so lucky to be able to walk out from our driveway into the beauty whenever we want!

And once home we saw that we had a little visitor...enjoying the fallen crab apples from our tree.

Love weekends like this and I have a feeling this may have been one of the last beautiful ones weather-wise at least!  So thankful we got to spend time enjoying it together!

A Scrapbook Layout...Fifth Grade

9.25.2014

I had some time today to play around a bit with my September kit from Scrapbook Circle!  Love the colors and fun mixes of patterns and textures with this kit!

It's kind of a grey and gloomy day here today so the pictures aren't the best but you can get the idea.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the lettering for "fifth grade". Love that machine so very much!

It was fun using the rub-ons from Shimelle by American Crafts...they went on smooth as butter!

Hope you are having a great Thursday!  I know I am...it's always a good day when there is time to get crafty!

The Colors of Fall...

9.24.2014

Things here are on fire! The colors here are amazing this year and early! I'm hoping they last through the weekend so I can get some more pictures. These pictures I snapped just around our yard. Zoey and I are hoping to get some raking done this weekend...leaf piles are on the agenda for sure! We've been enjoying cups of cocoa before bed.  I LOVE this time of year so very much!

It's so nice to see reds this year too...last year we seemed to see mostly yellows. It's so nice to go out into our little world every morning and come home every evening to this beauty. Makes me appreciate mother nature and reminds me to be fascinated in all that is. So amazing.

One of Zoey's responsibilities is to walk Leo right after school on the days we are able to come right home. She's been loving taking Leo through all the leaves through the yard, and yes, through the deck! So many leaves!

 I wouldn't have it any other way, I love living here in Wisconsin and getting the best of all seasons.

Fall, Leaves, Fall

BY EMILY BRONTË

Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;

Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.

First Day of Fifth Grade

9.02.2014

It's hard to believe, but she is in fifth grade this year...time has flown by.  I say that every year but for some reason fifth grade seems pretty huge compared to the rest.

For her, this year means that she is in a different school with different teachers and the potential to make some new and different friends.  I've been so nervous about this all summer but she's been completely fine.  Excited about it in fact.

She is the bravest girl I know.

Drop-off this morning went splendidly, she was ready to go and as we walked in to the school she was waving at people and saying hello.  Sometimes I wonder how it is that we ended up raising such a fun and happy little girl that has the confidence like she does...we have and here she is, embracing new opportunities as they come.

Walking into her new school this morning I was so tickled and happy to leave her there.  It seems to be filled with good energy for learning and embracing ones uniqueness.  There is a sense of community (she has a super small multi-age class within a charter school) and I am so excited to see what opportunities come her way this year.

At pick-up this afternoon she was bubbling over with all sorts of information.  She's in a Spanish class, she learned how to play Gaga ball and she met new friends, she doesn't have to sit in a desk but rather can sit on bouncy balls or beanbag chairs.  They will be doing science experiments every Thursday!!  :) She's pretty excited!

I am feeling so relieved this afternoon with her initial "report" of how things went. So happy that we made the choice to switch schools for her...I think it was the right thing for her to ensure her love of learning.

I can't wait to get tomorrow's report.
